The castle is witness to over a millennium of history and is the focus of any visit to Burghausen. Here, the longest castle in the world (1,051 m) houses museums and exhibitions, groups of performing artists and the residents of Burghausen who live and take part in festivities with their guests. It almost feels like your travelling in the south when you stroll through the listed old town, across the delightful town square and through the Grüben. To this day, the town square is the pulsing historical centre of Burghausen. With its colourful gabled houses and façades, it is easily among Central Europe`s most beautiful town squares.
