Numerous animal and plant species find a home here - including around 300 bird species. They use the extensive wetlands as resting places and breeding grounds.
The Inn Cycle Path offers fascinating insights into this varied landscape. As you ride along the embankments, magnificent carnations, mullein, orchids and many other flowering plants provide a colourful feast for the eyes in spring and summer.
On the way, it is worth taking a look at the newly designed exhibitions in the Naturium in Ering and in Frauenstein Castle. The Naturium am Inn is a cross-border visitor, nature conservation and environmental education centre in Ering (Bavaria) and Frauenstein (Upper Austria) and is located in the centre of the nature jewel Lower Inn European Reserve. Here, visitors learn exciting and interesting facts about habitats, bird life and nature at the Lower Inn. In addition to free information material, the Naturium also offers guided hikes and bird excursions.
Around the Ering-Frauenstein Inn power plant, the results of an extensive nature conservation project by the power plant operator can be marvelled at. The bypass watercourse not only allows fish to migrate unhindered past the power plant. The stream and gravel banks also provide valuable habitats for other aquatic life, birds, insects and plants.
