The three rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz flow together here - the play of colors of the water is particularly fascinating with the black Ilz, the blue Danube and the green Inn, which finally mix a few hundred meters further.
In the baroque city, charm and beauty, history and culture, art and experience go hand in hand. The combination of the sights with the entire old town and its winding alleys creates an unique atmosphere that defines Passau`s extraordinary beauty. The history of the city was and is alive. People already settled here in the Neolithic; later the Romans built several forts in the area of the Danube and Inn. Prince-bishops ruled the town from the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 19th century.
