The largest city in the s`Entdeckerviertels – located directly on the Bavarian border – is well-known for its historic city centre, cultural diversity, and unparalleled cuisine, among other attractions. The 750 year-old district and cultural hub has many different facets to explore, with one of the largest enclosed squares of any city in Salzach-Inn. Narrow streets and historical plazas, imposing buildings, historic art treasures and the Vorderbad, Austria`s only medieval bathhouse museum, give the urban core an unparalleled beauty. The city’s most recognisable landmark is the Pfarrkirche Sankt Stephan, which boasts one of Austria’s highest towers. The “Gugg”, cultural centre of the city of Braunau, is a national cultural hub.
